Welcome to The Ducklings

This year our class is made up of 26 enthusiastic and playful learners. Ducklings class are taught by Mrs Gillard and Miss Tolfree and are supported by Mrs Summers, Miss Jones and Miss Kilburn.

Our approach to learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage is engaging, challenging and fun. Our classroom is a beautiful space where the children can access excellent teaching and resources both inside and out. Our garden and forest school areas are used as an integral part of our daily learning. We know that the transition to primary school is a huge step for our youngest children so we carefully consider our learning to ensure everyone has the best possible start to their school life at St Marys. 

THINGS TO REMEMBER

• Children should be reading at least 4 times a week at home and this needs to be recorded in their reading record. They will bring home 2 decodable phonics books each week.

• Each week children will also come home with a sharing book. This is a book they choose and is for children and grown ups to read together. Children are not expected to read this book by themselves. These reads do not need to be logged in the reading record.

• PE is weekly on a Monday. PE kits should be left in school and should contain kit appropriate for both indoor and outdoor lessons. A full list can be found in the uniform section on the website. PE kits will be sent home at the end of each term to be washed.

• Wellies should be brought to school and left at school for the school year. 

• Children can always share learning from home using Seesaw - we love to see this!
