Welcome to the Rabbits!

In Year 1 we love to learn and explore new things. We have 18 wonderful children and the teaching team this year is Miss Tolfree and Mrs Thomson. In Year 1 we do lots of whole class and small group work to start the children on the road to independent learning. We have an amazing outdoor space which we share with the children in Reception. At the start of Year 1 we continue with continuous provision to ensure a smooth transition into KS1. As the year progresses we become more formal but we always give opportunities for hands-on practical learning.

THINGS TO REMEMBER

-Children should be reading at least 4 times a week at home and this needs to be recorded in their reading record. They will bring home 2 decodable phonics books each week.

-Each week children will also come home with a sharing book. This is a book they choose and is for children and grown ups to read together. Children are not expected to read this book by themselves.

-Thursday is our Forest School session. Please come into school in Forest School kits appropriate for the weather and time of year. They will also need to bring in their school clothes to change back into after Forest School.

-Wednesday is our PE day. PE kits should be left in school and should contain kit appropriate for both indoor and outdoor lessons. Full list can be found in the uniform section on the website. PE kits will be sent home at the end of each term to be washed.

-Children are encouraged to play on Numbots at home to help them develop their Math skills. Little and often goes a long way in building confidence and Maths fluency. Their Numbot login details are in their reading records.
